1935-1980
Frank Salzeider had two
brothers, Reid and John and a couple of dogs.
His allowance was shorted because he worked on a farm with many
workers. Frank walked to an elementary
school with grades K-8 in one room. The
President when he was in my grade in school was Franklin. D. Roosevelt. The popular clothes when he was my age were
t-shirts and jeans. He took the usual
courses in school. Without computers,
he always used the brain method. For
sports Frank did football and track.
Some awards he won were athletic awards. Frank’s favorite singer was Fats Domino. A candy bar used to cost him a nickel, and
to go to a movie cost twenty-five cents.
Frank’s first date was in tenth grade.
He used to drive a pickup and cars.
Frank was good with the public and work. Frank’s favorite sports team was the Green Bay Packers. His favorite reading was the Daily News. His favorite tradition was Sunday dinners. The biggest historic event for him was becoming a father and being superintendent of Engadine Consolidated Schools. A disaster that he witnessed was the military conflict. Frank hunted and fished in his spare time.
He was married on August 19, 1961, and remained married until his death in 1980. He and his wife, Anne, had four children: Toni Marie, Dawn Marie, Jeffrey, and Scott. Also he is survived by seven grand children: Sam, Eric, Emily, Nathan, Grace, Ashley, and Joseph. Frank’s jobs were being in the military, a high school math teacher, a high school principal, and superintendent. His travels were in the United States and Germany. His favorite memories were of his children and family. “The good old days were quieter. But there are more opportunities today.”
